This past Friday, I was invited to attend the Foundermade Wellness event at the beautiful Spring Studios in Soho, Manhattan, New York. If you aren’t familiar with Foundermade – it is a platform that takes consumer discovery to the next level, helping entrepreneurs scale their business through leadership, investment, distribution, and high-impact marketing initiatives. Sounds like a lot, huh? Regardless of whether you are an entrepreneur and looking for information on how to get to the next level, the basic tenets of Foundermade can be applied to life, as well. I walked away with, most of all, inspiration on how I want to live a healthy and purpose-driven life moving forward.
The basic tenets of what you will learn at a Foundermade event lie in:
Purpose and Mission
What is your life’s mission, goal or purpose? Whether it was the CEO of Flywheel or founders from Wanderlust and MindBodyGreen, they all had a focus of what they wanted to do, driven by a need they had in their lives. Create an inspiration board that has your mission statement on it and look at it daily. If this were the first thing you see in the morning, what would you want it to say? My personal board these days would say “Express love. Stay determined.”
Courage and Strength
Admit “failure” when it happens. That’s courage. Have you lost focus on your goals? Did you eat poorly? Were you unnecessarily short-tempered? Usually the first thought is blaming the other party. ‘My friends should know to not pressure me to go on a drinking binge,’ or ‘Well, if that other person hadn’t approached me like that…’. These are what we call excuses. Once you have a realization and acceptance of what has happened, it is such a freeing feeling of owning the experience and growing from it. Ask yourself, ‘What could I have done differently? How else could I have responded?’
Intuition
Follow your gut. When it seems too good to be true, it usually is. That tea detox claiming you will lose 10 pounds in 3 days – probably not going to happen, ladies (at least in the healthy and sustainable way that we want!).
Endurance and Persistence
Life is not easy. We all know this. If you are persistent in your path though, you will succeced. Greatness doesn’t come easy. You can;t have triumph without tragedy. You can’t get to the mountain without going through the valley.
Integrity and Kindness
Live a life that you can be proud of. Would the child version of yourself be proud of you as an adult? Asking yourself that question, really helps put into perspective how you treat others and how you live your life. It’s important to stay steadfast and true to your own journey but someone else’s journey is just as important as yours. It’s such an amazing feeling to help and support others in their paths. Enable others to grow and gain confidence in themselves.
A Discovery Lounge was also at the event where several brands were represented – ranging from collagen protein (what’s up Vital Proteins!) to natural beauty lines and even a safety monitor (more on that below). It’s impossible to showcase all of the brands but here are some standout vendors –
Vital Proteins was by far my favorite brand represented. Excited to try out all of the different flavors.
Revolar a wearable personal safety device
Don’t get anxious with plane delays and long wait times in the airport. Practice yoga right in the terminal.
Dr. Brite’s ALL natural oral care – no chemicals here! Plus, there is a teeth whitening pen you can just rub on your teeth and in a couple of days your teeth will turn two shades lighter.
Kali Active – boxing gear so you can fight like a girl (a personal fave and the founder is so badass cool!)
Ina’s Restorative all natural oils and skin product
The next Foundermade event will focus on FOOD and is held at Hudson Lofts in Downtown Los Angeles, on April 8. Learn more here.
