Last week, I partnered with Propel and went to New York for a fun (and sweaty!) 48 hours. Propel Water launched their new Let’s Get Ugly campaign, that I was so happy to be a part of. “Let’s Get Ugly” is at its core, all about being in your zone, getting sweaty, giving it your all, and owning it! It’s not about the perfect look or lifting a certain amount or comparing yourself to the next person. I love that this campaign stands for putting in hard work and dedication to your journey and FEELING BEAUTIFUL in the process.
Pre-sweat, all the blogger babes that were invited, got the chance to get some photos taken. All the sets were so fun and really embodied the essence of the campaign. It was such a treat to be able to shoot with such professional photographers too. This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this, at this scale, so it felt really special. 🙂
Later on in the day, we really got our sweat on! We started off by taking a class with The Class by Taryn Toomey. It’s definitely a movement based experience – think lots of plyometrics mixed in with guided releases of breath, all to the tempo of fun, engaging music. It definitely got my heart pumping and the next day my hammies definitely felt a little sore!
After The Class workout, we transitioned very nicely into a sound bath meditation. I had never tried a sound bath and now I know I definitely need to prioritize it into my weekly wellness routine. If you haven’t ever experienced a sound bath it is essentially listening to the most soothing sounds made from gongs and crystal singing bowls, so you can have a deeper meditation practice. Your body receives the vibrations of the sounds while you are in savasana. You know what savasana means to me? Sleep time haha. I can’t help but doze a little bit – it’s just so relaxing! I can’t be the only one. Afterward, my body and mind truly felt lighter and I felt a bit more transcendent after the experience. I’ll definitely be looking for a sound bath in LA!
Second workout of the day – my favorite – boxing! I was so happy to see some familiar faces from Prevail LA (the boxing gym I go to). We were led through a tough workout consisting of a lot of jabs, a lot of crosses, a lot of sweat, per usual 🙂
It’s amazing how much confidence I’ve built from boxing. I remember my first boxing experience, I felt silly and unsure of myself. Hitting a bag, putting on gloves – it all felt very ‘maybe this isn’t for me…’. Now I can’t wait to “get ugly”, sweat and go for it!
Post boxing and a cool down yoga session led by Yoga for Bad People, we had some refreshments, drinks (mixed with the flavored Propel Water), and had the chance to do a meet and greet photo op with Jessie J! Jessie J created one of the catchiest fitness anthems ever – I linked the commercial below! Every time I hear it, it always gets me moving!
Propel is launching these Co:Labs (short for Collaborations) all around the country – LA, Miami, Denver, New York, and Chicago. If you live in or near any of these cities definitely try and check out what Propel has in store for you. I’ll be posting dates up later! If it’s anything like what we experienced at this kick-off event, you’ll have lots of sweat in your future!
xo,
Rachel
