You can always find me on a bike somewhere in the city! I took a Sunday afternoon class at AuraCycle located in West Hollywood. It was convenient that they had a noon class, so I didn’t have to worry about waking up too early on the weekend. 🙂
Class: The class is a standard 45 minutes, as are most other spin classes. The bike room is a lot different than other studios though. Talk about feeling like you’re in a club! There are multiple settings for lights that are on the mirrors in the front of class – flashing white lights, red, purple, etc. It can feel like you’re in a disco!
For me, I don’t necessarily need all of the flashiness and would actually prefer to have a mirror with no lights on it so that I can stare at myself while I’m spinning 😀 However, I can see how some might like it to add more motivation to keep going.
Other than the lights, you do have a series of arm workouts on the bike as well as one full song dedicated to arm weights. I used the 3 lb weights but trust me, it’s still tough 🙂
No pain, no gain: I was already sore from a full body workout the day prior so I’m especially sore in my glutes and quads.
Amenities:
- Towel service (love that they provide eucalyptus towels after class – so refreshing!)
- Showers
- Ample lockers (no lock needed)
Parking: There is a structure attached to the building with 90 minute free parking with validation (woohoo!)
Tips:
- I took class with Keelin – SUPER motivating. She has a great energy and also really fun music
- If you go to AuraCycle on the weekend, make sure to hit up Toast for brunch afterward, which happens to be right on the corner of the next block 🙂
