This is my first time creating a vision board but as someone who absolutely believes in the law of attraction and power of positive thinking, I am surprised I haven’t created a vision board sooner! Steps on how to create a vision board are quite straightforward. The reason why I love vision boarding is that it’s a creative way to express yourself. Compiling images of actions, words, products, or places can also effectively influence your mind and harness your intentions to bring more positive change.
If you are new to vision boarding, here are some quick and helpful tips that can teach you how to create a vision board and start manifesting them, especially for the new year!
Be clear on your intent and goals
It can be helpful to jot down on a piece of paper what goals you have – whether they are short term or long term. This way when you open up magazines and start cutting out images, you will know what to look out for.
A good way to start thinking about your goals is to do some reflection. Think about your past, are there certain achievements you wish you hit or were working toward? Are there certain areas of your life you know you neglected more than you would have liked? Use these reflections as a good way to start shaping what your intentions will be for the near or long term.
Get Organized
Another method that others have used is breaking down your board into separate sections and taking an inventory of your life in different categories. You can also create mini-boards focused on specific areas of your life. For example, some categories could be health & wellness, love & relationships, work & career, etc. Think of all the areas of your life that you would like to grow in and write out your goals for each so that you can have a representative vision for each area.
When actually creating your board, you may also choose to have different boards for different areas of your life. Perhaps a work related board can be placed in your office and one more geared toward your personal life can be at home somewhere within easy view.

Basic Supplies
In order to vision board successfully, make sure you have all the necessary supplies.
- Markers and pens (if you want to draw on your board)
- Poster board (remember the bigger the poster board the more you will have to fill in) – Finding the right images and placing them on the board takes a lot longer than you may think!
- Scissors
- Glue sticks / tape
- Magazines – Make sure you have a lot of magazines to choose from in all different categories for maximum creativity – fitness, travel, health, women’s lifestyle, etc.
Meditate On It
After you create your vision board, meditate on it! Look at your board each day and really believe that these images on paper will become reality! I’m going to view my vision board each night before I sleep so that I can dream about them!
Make a Plan
Meditating and putting more energy toward your vision board is key but what’s also vital to this process is making a plan. Since you will be viewing your vision board on a regular basis, it’s one thing to have it top of mind but now it’s also time to put action steps toward executing on your visions.
Vision boards are meant for visualizing your reality but as we know, our ideal reality doesn’t happen by sitting back. I recently wrote a blog post on goal setting success that I think can go hand in hand with your vision board.
Vision boards can keep you aligned with your dreams and goals. They may also strengthen your decision making process to keep you on track to achieving all that you want. Let me know below if you know now how to create a vision board. I hope this helps you manifest your dreams!
